Max Patch Elopement
Asheville is a fun little mountain town in Western North Carolina. It’s a popular destination wedding location on the East Coast due to it’s scenic venues, adventurous activities, and quirky atmosphere. A Max Patch elopement at sunset is a dream. It’s an easy hike, and the views are unreal. It’s a bit of a rough drive getting to the trailhead on the gravel mountain road, but it’s worth the trek.
Getting Ready in a Cabin in the Woods
Kate and Jon started the day off in the cutest A-framed cabin. It was secluded and had a whimsical feel, everything you’d want for an adventurous destination elopement. They got ready together in their intimate little cabin in the woods. Later that afternoon, we packed up and headed to the mountains!
Adventurous Destination Elopement
Kate and Jon love to travel, and they had never been to Max Patch before. As we hiked up the mountain trail, we talked about our travel experiences and future travel dreams. We stopped along the way to enjoy the different views. As we reached the top of the hill, the sun started to set. They wandered through the tall grass soaking up the summer evening. There really is nothing like the feeling of fresh mountain air surrounded by stunning scenery.

Max Patch Elopement
Max Patch is located outside of Asheville, North Carolina. It takes approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes to get to the trailhead from downtown Asheville. The last 30-40 minutes of driving is on winding gravel roads, so it’s best to drive an SUV; however, it is possible to reach the trail by a sedan. There is a small parking lot at the Max Patch trailhead. Additionally, if the parking lot is full, you can park along the side of the road. There are usually a lot of hikers and people camping, but it’s an open space so it doesn’t feel too crowded. Max Pax is a top hiking trail near Asheville, NC due to it’s beautiful scenery and short walking distance. It’s ideal for a couple looking to elope in Western North Carolina.
